Holy Week and Easter

Holy Week begins with our Palm Sunday worship on Sunday, April 9, at 9:30 am. From 2-4 pm, we invite others to join in the Palm Sunday Peace Parade, starting at Hively and ending at the Elkhart Civic Plaza for reflection, prayer and music.

Maundy Thursday: A light meal followed by a Tenebrae service and communion will begin at 6 pm. (People with last names beginning with A-J should bring fruit ready to serve; people with last names beginning with K-Z should bring sandwiches.)

Easter Morning:
7:30 am - Early worship service
8 am - Breakfast (People with last names beginning with A-J should bring breads; people with last names beginning with K-Z should bring fruit ready to serve)
9:30 am - Easter worship service

Ash Wednesday

Paul Selman memorial service

We will celebrate the life of Paul Selman, long-time member of Hively, on Saturday, June 18. Visitation is 2-4 pm; the service is at 4 pm.

Summer Bible School

June 15 is the first of two evening Summer Bible School events. We are focusing on the theme of light in the Bible and are planning worship, drama, reflection on the Bible story, crafts, recreation and snacks. The evening begins at 6:30 and will continue until 8:30. Watch for further announcements.

Look ahead with us to the special services to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus:

Maundy Thursday, March 24, 6 pm : Light meal, communion and foot washing

Easter Sunday, March 27:
7:30 am: Early worship service
8 am: Breakfast
9:30 am: Worship, including a re-enactment of Easter morning and Jesus' first appearances to the disciples
11 am: Christian education

Ash Wednesday, Feb 10

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lent season with time for confession and reflection. Join others in a service of Scripture, singing and imposition of ashes (for those who wish it), on Wednesday, Feb 10, beginning at 7 pm.

Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve services

The Christmas Eve service will be a festive time to sing, hear the story of Jesus' birth and worship the God who so freely sends us love and salvation. Join us at 6:30 pm on Dec 24.

The New Year's Eve service will be a celebration of communion for baptized followers of Jesus. That service on Dec 31 begins at 6:30 pm.

Mission Sunday

On November 8 we will focus on how God calls us to be involved with our neighbors at home and around the world. Our mission Sunday speaker will be Marisa Smucker from Mennonite Mission Network. She will speak in the worship service and during the Christian Education hour.

Peace Sunday

On September 20 we will focus our Sunday morning worship on our calling to be peacemakers. Andre Gingerich Stoner will bring the message that morning. Andre works with interchurch relations for Mennonite Church USA. Earlier in his life, he worked in Germany with military personnel who felt called to become peacemakers. 

Winifred Waltner Memorial Service
